SEATTLE - Washington seniors C.J. Wallace and Sean Douglas have been named to The Sporting News' Preseason All-Pac-10 First Team, while senior linebacker Scott White earned second-team mention. Redshirt freshman tailback J.R. Hasty earned the magazine's Preseason Pac-10 Offensive Newcomer of the Year honor. The rankings will appear in The Sporting News' 2006 National College Football Yearbook, which goes on sale in June.

Both Wallace and Douglas earned All-Pac-10 honorable mention last fall. Wallace, a senior safety from Sacramento, Calif., ranked 11th in the Pac-10 with 7.8 tackles per game, including a career-best 17 tackles vs. Notre Dame. The recipient of the team's Chuck Niemi Big Hit Award following the 2005 season, Wallace is expected to make a full return in the fall after missing all of the Huskies' spring practices following surgery on his shoulder. He is ranked 14th in the nation among strong safeties in The Sporting News' positional rankings, and ranks second among returning Pac-10 safeties in tackles per game.

Douglas, meanwhile, earned a No. 10 national ranking in The Sporting News' positional rankings. The senior from Bellevue, Neb., is the Pac-10's top returning punter with a career average of 42.6 yards per punt, currently the best-ever in UW history. Douglas ranked 22nd in NCAA Division-I in 2005 with a 42.65-yard average, equaling his own 2004 season for the second-highest single-season average ever by a UW punter.

Earning second-team honors from The Sporting News was White, a senior linebacker from Lemon Grove, Calif. With 20 career starts and 33 career games played, White enters the 2006 season as the Huskies' most experienced defender, and is among the conference's sixth-ranked returning tackler at 7.2 tackles per game. White also ranked among the Huskies' leaders in tackles-for-loss (7.5) and sacks (3), including an eight-tackle, two-sack performance vs. California.

Rounding out the list of preseason all-conference honorees is redshirt freshman tailback J.R. Hasty, who garnered the magazine's Preseason Offensive Newcomer of the Year honor. The graduate of Bellevue (Wash.) High School enters his second fall at Washington looking to break into the Huskies' rotation at tailback, which includes a pair of experienced returnees in senior Kenny James and junior Louis Rankin. Hasty, who totaled nearly 6,000 yards and scored 92 touchdowns during an All-American prep career, was named the team's Bob Jarvis Offensive Scout of the Year during a redshirt season in 2005.
