Washington vs. Arizona
Washington Post-Game Quotes
Coach Tia Jackson
Opening Statement: "We swept this weekend -- that feels pretty good. I think our free throws down the stretch were huge for us and I think every kid that stepped up to the line really focused in on something. That was key for us because we knew they were going to foul and we knocked them down. We held a very good team to 29 percent shooting, a lot of credit to our defense. There was a defensive team that wasn't in at the end of the game that really brought that game back for us with full court pressure. Extremely hard effort out there."
On Senior Laura McLellan: "She was getting their bigs in foul trouble and then finally they had to back off. I think everybody got a little piece of us inside and she was rebounding well. I have to roll with her when she gets a little heated in the game and just give her a minute and let her cool off. She came right back and responded beautifully."
On Playing Better in 2010: "I think our preseason games we learned a lot and in the month of December being away we were together as a team and we learned a lot. We learned how to gel, how to deal, good days, bad days. I think it's a credit to being away and bonding as a group."
Sophomore Kristi Kingma
On Home Crowd: "I remember coming to these games growing up and that was the atmosphere. It's a great atmosphere and I think we had one of the best home crowds we've had since I've been here. The fans were fired up and we were fired up. It was a morning game and we know that Arizona didn't take a shoot-around and we did so we were ready to take it at them."
