TOBAGO - Freshman distance standout Lindsay Flanagan managed to squeeze in a quick trip down to the island of Tobago this weekend in the middle of her track season to compete for Team USA in the North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Cross Country Championships.

The championships were held Saturday at the Mt. Irvine Resort on Tobago, one of the two islands that make up the nation of Trinidad & Tobago just north of Venezuela.

Flanagan, the top freshman for the Husky cross country squad in the fall, took sixth in the junior race, third among Americans, in a time of 14:08 over the four kilometer course. Her efforts helped the U.S. junior squad to second in the team race with 24 points behind Team Canada which scored 16. Also on Team USA were a pair of freshmen from Duke, one from Augustana College and another from Northwestern.

A native of Roselle, Illinois, Flanagan ran in UW's top-seven in four races in the fall during cross country. She has carried that success into the indoor track season, where she has run a 5,000-meter personal best of 16:48.71 that already ranks her seventh on the UW Top-10 list.
