Dec. 14, 2006

Washington senior punter Sean Douglas, who completed his career as the Huskies' career punting average leader, was earned honorable mention on the Pro Football Weekly All-American team, announced today.

Douglas, from Bellevue, Neb., finished out his UW tenure with a 42.8-yard career average, breaking Skip Boyd's 32-year old record (41.2 yards per punt/1972-74). He also posted three of the top four single-season averages in UW history (including a record-breaking 43.1-yard average in 2006), and boasts the two longest punts in UW history (81 and 82 yards) and the most 60-plus yard punts in school history, with 11.

The team was selected by Pro Football Weekly personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki, who consulted with NFL evaluators and put in hours of film study to select players based on talent, production and value to their team. Other All-American qualities such as leadership, resiliency, toughness, competitiveness and character were weighed heavily.

The Pro Football Weekly 2006 All-America team is highlighted in the latest issue of PFW (Issue date Dec. 18, 2006), which is on newsstands now.
