All-American Pair Finally Gets To Let Loose

AUSTIN, Texas - Javelin All-Americans Brooke Pighin and Kyle Nielsen got their 2010 seasons off to a strong start on the final day of the Texas Relays at Myers Stadium.

Pighin threw first in the top women's flight. Her best throw was her first, as she tossed the stick 160-feet, 10-inches which got her into the finals. She finished in 10th-place overall.

Later in the afternoon it was Nielsen's turn. Sixth at the 2009 NCAA Champinships, Nielsen opened up with a throw of 220-feet, 3-inches on his first attempt that would also be his best effort as he placed sixth.

Though certainly just a starting point for the next several weeks, both marks will likely be good enough to assure the two of a return trip to Austin for the NCAA preliminary rounds, where the top-48 qualifiers in the West will compete.
