Vancouver, BC - Washington senior James Lepp shot 8-over 78 during the opening round of the Bell Canadian Open Thursday at Vancouver's Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club. Lepp was in 146th place after his first 18 holes of play. The tournament is part of the PGA Tour.
Former Husky Rob Rashell carded a 2-over 72 and is tied for 55th after the first round. The top 70 players will advance to weekend play.
Mark Calcavecchia and Lucas Glover share the early lead with scores of 5-under 65.
Starting on the 10th hole, Lepp had a bogie on four of his first five holes before collecting his only birdie during his round on the par-5 15th hole. Lepp finished with nine bogies and eight pars during his round.
Lepp will tee off Friday at 8:41 a.m. from the first hole. He is paired with Craig Bowden and Justin Bolli.
