SEATTLE - Freshman Branden Berry's two-out single in the bottom of the 12th inning brought home the winning run as the Washington baseball team edged 13th-ranked Arizona, 6-5, in a Pac-12 game Sunday at Husky Ballpark.

The Huskies (20-17 overall, 6-9 in the Pac-12) had scored three runs in the eighth to take a 5-4 lead, but Arizona (26-13, 12-6) scored a two-out run in the ninth to force extra innings.

In the 12th, UW left fielder Michael Camporeale led off the inning with a hard grounder off the glove of the Arizona shortstop, who was sliding trying to make a play. It caromed wildly into left, giving Camporeale a double. An intentional walk, a fielder's choice and a groundout left the UW with runners at second and third with two outs for Berry, who lined a single to shallow right to win the game.

UW reliever Tyler Kane (3-1) picked up the win, pitching the 12th inning. The UW actually got nine innings of relief from four pitchers, who combined to allow just one unearned run. Arizona reliever Stephen Manthei (5-4) pitched the final four and one-third innings, allowing just the one run in the loss.

Berry finished the game 2-for-5 with two RBI while Chase Anselment drove in three runs.

Arizona mounted a two-out rally in the first to take a lead. With two down and none on, Alex Mejia singled and Robert Refsnyder reached on an error to put runners at the corners. Seth Mejias-Brean followed with a line-drive single to left, scoring Mejia to make it 1-0.

The Huskies answered in the bottom of the first. Jayce Ray led off with a double. After he moved to third on a bunt, Jacob Lamb belted a triple off the top of the fence in dead center field, scoring Ray to tie the score. Anselment grounded out to first and Lamb came in to score, putting the UW in front, 2-1.

In the fourth, the Wildcats loaded the bases with no outs. Reliever Zach Wright came on and got a strikeout, but Johnny Field hit a double to the gap in right-center to bring home a pair of runners and put the visitors back in front at 3-2. A Joesph Maggi groundout plated another Wildcat, stretching the lead to 4-2.

Farris gave up a leadoff single in the fourth, but then retired 13 straight before hitting Joe Meggs with a pitch with one out in the eighth. Arizona closer Mathew Troupe then came on for Farris, marking the first pitching change of the series for the Wildcats.

Troupe walked Lamb to bring the go-ahead run to the plate in Anselment, who belted a double to the gap in left-center, scoring both runs to tie the game at 4-4. Manthei came on in place of Troupe and gave up a single to Mitsui, putting runners at the corners with one out. Berry got the job done with a sacrifice fly to right as pinch runner Caleb Brown slid in just ahead of the throw to give Washington a 5-4 lead.

However, in the top of the ninth, Arizona tied it up at 5-5. With two outs, Seth Mejias-Brean doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch. Bobby Brown followed with a chopper to first, but UW first baseman Mitsui couldn't handle the high hop and the error allowed Mejias-Brean to score, tying the game.

In the bottom of the 10th, a single from Meggs, a double from Brown and an intentional walk loaded the bases with one out, but Manthei struck out the next two Husky hitters to preserve the tie.

The Huskies head out on the road for their next seven games. Tuesday, the UW travels to Portland for a non-conference game and then the Dawgs play Pac-12 series at Utah and USC the next two weekends. The next Washington home game will come May 11 vs. UCLA at Safeco Field.
