Polk Named Student-Athlete Of The Week

SEATTLE - Sophomore running back Chris Polk (Redlands, Calif.) is the Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 29-Dec. 6.

This is the second-straight honor for Polk who also won the award last week. This is the fifth overall honor for the football team this season.

Polk helped lead the Huskies to a 35-28 victory over Washington State in the Apple Cup to make the Huskies bowl eligible. Washington will play Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl Dec. 30 in San Diego in the first bowl for UW since 2002.

In Pullman, Wash., on Saturday night, Polk ran for 284 yards on 29 carries and two touchdowns, just 12 yards shy of a school record.

Other nominees include: Aliza Vaccher (gymnastics), C.J. Wilcox (men's basketball), Kindra Carlson (volleyball), Sarah Morton (women's basketball).
