Seattle - The 11th-ranked Washington men's golf team wraps up its fall season this week at the CordeValle Collegiate Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at CordeValle Country Club in San Martin, CA. Fifth-ranked UCLA is the host team for the tournament.
The event features 15 teams, including five from the Pacific-10 Conference, and six teams representing half a dozen other major conferences. Nine of the teams are ranked in the Top 50 in the latest GolfWeek poll. Twelve players in the field are ranked in the current top 50.
The in addition to the Huskies and Bruins, the field is comprised of No. 43 Arizona, Arkansas, No. 25 Augusta State, California, No. 16 Northwestern, No. 22 Notre Dame, No. 17 Pepperdine, Stanford, No. 29 Texas, Central Florida, North Carolina, No. 50 USC and Virginia.
The format for the CordeValle Collegiate calls for 36 holes of stroke play on Mon., Oct. 31 and 18 holes on Tues., Nov. 1. The tournament can be viewed live on GolfStat.com. CordeValle measures 7,169 yards and carries a par of 72.
Washington's lineup will feature defending NCAA Champion James Lepp, Alex Prugh, Erik Olson, Zach Bixler and Sterling Clark. Lepp leads the Huskies with a 71.56 stroke average. He placed second at the Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge in early October. Alex Prugh is second on the team with a 72.00 stroke average. He also has a second-place finish when he was the runner-up at the Gopher Invitational.
