Snake River - The Washington women's crew program won five of six races against cross-state rival Washington State and the Husky men topped the Cougar men's club-level team in the annual dual regatta on the Snake River Saturday afternoon.
Racing in good weather and water, the women's varsity eight won its race convincingly, covering the 2,000-meter course in a time of 6 minutes, 37.4 seconds, ahead of the Cougar women at 6:54.1. Washington collected victories in two varsity four races, the second novice eight competition, the second varsity eight and the second novice eight.
Washington State picked up its victory in the first race of the day, winning the novice eight race in 6:53.5, over the Huskies who crossed the finish line at 6:56.9.
Washington swept both the men's varsity and novice eights and the varsity and novice four races.
The Washington men's and women's varsity eights travel to Wisconsin next week, where the Huskies face the Badgers in the annual dual regatta. Racing begins at 10 a.m. CST on Lake Mendota.
