Washington's Jacob Lamb has named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball, the newspaper announced today. The Huskies' starting third baseman finished the season as the team's top hitter.
Lamb, from Seattle's Bishop Blanchet High, hit .347, highest among Husky regular starters. He started 54 of the UW's 56 games, collecting a team-high 70 hits in 202 at bats. He was also second on the team with 14 doubles and 32 runs batted in while adding four homers.
Lamb is the first Husky to earn freshman All-America since Matt Hague in 2005.
