BARCELONA, Spain -- After a nine hour flight from Seattle to Paris, a four-hour layover in Paris and a 90 minute flight from Paris to Barcelona, the Husky Basketball team has officially invaded Europe.
After leaving Seattle at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, the Huskies arrived to their luxurious Barcelona hotel at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Needless to say, there were some tired Dawgs in the lobby waiting to get their room keys.
Players, staff and family were on their own after arriving at the hotel. Some chose to catch up on their sleep, some chose to lay out in the warming beating sun on the rooftop pool and others strapped on their shoes and walked the bustling sidewalks of Barcelona.
Despite jet lag and weary legs, many of the 29 person travel party were troopers and made their way out to explore the city. Those who ventured from the hotel discovered Barcelona is a vibrant city that has much history, art, architecture and people watching at every turn.
Tomorrow, the travel party is meeting a 9:00 a.m. (that is midnight for the people in the 206 are code) to take a bus tour of the city. We also have our first of seven games during the tour.
Check back tomorrow for more pictures and another report. Meanwhile, make sure to click the photo gallery link above to visit the UW Men's Basketball facebook page and see some of the picture from day one.
