Three UW Rowers, Two Coaches to Represent U.S. at U-23 Worlds

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Three University of Washington rowers and two Husky coaches will represent the United States at the upcoming 2005 World Rowing Under-23 Championships, USRowing announced Wednesday.

The U.S. will send a men's four, lightweight men's four, women's four, women's double sculls and men's quadruple sculls to compete July 22-24 at the championships in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Washington women's head coach Eleanor McElvaine will direct the U.S. women's four while Husky men's freshman coach Michael Callahan will supervise the men's quadruple sculls.

Scott Gault (Piedmont, Calif.) and Kyle Larson (Mt. Vernon, Wash.), who completed their collegiate crew careers in June, will row in the U.S. men's four.

Megan Kalmoe (St. Croix Falls, Wis.) competes in the women's four. She will return next season for her senior year at UW.

Another current UW rower will compete at the World Championships. Junior Kara Farquharson, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, will row for Canada in a double.
