GUADALAJARA, Mexico - Husky legend Aretha Thurmond added another medal to her trophy case this weekend as the three-time Olympian placed second in the discus throw earning silver as the Pan-American Games wrapped up in the Telmex Athletics Stadium.

This is the third career Pan-Am Games medal for Thurmond. She won gold in 2003 and silver again in 1999.

Thurmond's best toss came on her fifth attempt out of six. She threw 195-feet, 3-inches. Cuba's Yarelys Barrios won the gold with a meet record toss of 217-10.

As always, Thurmond was appreciative of the experience and representing her country once again. "I don't care if it's summer time, winter time or fall you can't turn an opportunity down. My expectations are always high. I always shoot for the top spot, I'm not going to lie, but I'm still happy with the silver medal. It's been a long season. I've been training my tail off, so I can just hang my head high knowing that I gave it my all today."
