SEATTLE - The first member of the 2010 UW football freshman class has already arrived as tailback Deontae Cooper has enrolled and attended his first classes today, the first day of winter quarter.
Cooper, from Perris, Calif. (Citrus Hill High School), completed his remarkable high school career last fall and graduated early. Over his four years, he rushed for 7,450 yards and 107 touchdowns. His 7,450 yards were second-most in Inland Empire history, trailing only 2009 Heisman Trophy runner-up Toby Gerhart.
Cooper was named the offensive MVP of the Mountain Pass League last season, after rushing for 2,863 yards and 34 TDs.
The remainder of the Huskies' 2010 recruiting class will be announced on National Letter of Intent Signing Day, which is Feb. 3
