SEATTLE - Senior Kristi Kingma from the women's basketball team has been named the GoHuskies.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 11-17.
Kingma led a record-setting night as Washington demolished Oregon, 97-71 at Matthew Knight Arena. Kingma made a Pac-12 record 11 3-pointers as the Dawgs made 18 as a team to also set a conference record.
She made five long-range bombs in the first half and six more in the second. She shot 11-17 from beyond the arc and 12-19 overall to score a career-high 35 points. The senior who leads the Pac-12 in 3-pointers made finished just one shy of the NCAA record of 12.
The Dawgs scored a season-best 97 points, but it wasn't just the hot shooting. Washington dished out 25 assists, forced 16 Oregon turnovers and outrebounded the Ducks, 48-40.
Kingma who missed all of the 2011-12 season with a torn ACL added to her Pac-12 leading total of 3-pointers. She now has 76 this season, just three shy of her own school record for a single season. In conference, Kingma has really picked it up, making 46 3-pointers, while shooting 39 percent from beyond the arc.
