THIS WEEKEND: The Washington baseball team (12-7 overall, 2-1 in the Pac-12) plays its final non-conference weekend of the season as CSU Bakersfield (7-11) comes to Husky Ballpark for three games this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Huskies were supposed to have traveled to the Houston area to face Lamar and the University of Houston this week, but severe weather in the area cancelled the trip. While those games will not be rescheduled, the Huskies could try to add a game or two to the schedule later on. UW picked up a vote in the USA Today Coaches' Poll and was ranked No. 40 by Perfect Game after taking two out of three from the Oregon Ducks last weekend. This weekend, game times are Friday at 5:00 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Fans can watch live video (free) and follow live stats of all four games at gohuskies.com. The easiest way to find the links is to go to the baseball schedule page at gohuskies.com and click on that day's game for the links. Washington will send junior right-hander Aaron West to the hill Friday night. On Saturday, freshman right Tyler Davis will start for the UW and, on Sunday, sophomore RHP Austin Voth will take to the mound for the Dawgs. The following week, the Huskies begin a stretch of nine consecutive Pac-12 weekends in a three-game series at Oregon State. Here's a look at this weekend's games:

COACH MEGGS: Lindsay Meggs is in his third season as head coach at Washington. This spring, one of his chief accomplishments has come to fruition with the opening of the new baseball team building at Husky Ballpark - a clubhouse, coaches' offices, training room, equipment room and donor area overlooking the field. Meggs came to the UW after having spent the previous three seasons at Indiana State and the 13 prior to that at Chico State, where he won NCAA Division II national championships in 1997 and 1999. He helped Chico to the D-II College World Series seven times and won the league eight times. At Indiana State, he was named Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year in 2009 after guiding the Sycamores to a second-place finish, their highest since 1998. Currently, he boasts a 672-379-4 record over 18 seasons as a four-year college head coach. He'd previously served as head coach at Long Beach City College and Oxnard College. Born in San Jose and a graduate of Saratoga (Calif.) High, Meggs played four seasons as the starting third baseman at UCLA. He was drafted by the Brewers in 1983, and then again by the Royals after his senior year in 1984. Meggs is joined by assistant coaches Dave Nakama, Dave Dangler and Jordon Twohig.

SERIES HISTORY: Washington and CSU Bakersfield, which only began playing baseball in 2009, had never met on the baseball field before a three-game series last year in Bakersfield. The Roadrunners swept that three-game series, which fell on the second weekend of the season, winning 5-4, 11-1 and 7-4. Having played CSUB last year, the only Division I team in the state of California that the Huskies have never faced is UC Davis, which only moved up to Division I in 2005.
