WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Five Washington baseball players, led by second-team selections Adam Cimber and Joe Meggs, were honored today as the Pac-12 Conference announced its 2012 Academic All-Pac-12 team.

In addition to Cimber and Meggs, Huskies Ty Afenir, Jeff Brigham and Nick Palewicz received honorable mention Academic All-Pac-12.

Cimber, a junior pitcher from Edgewood, Wash., is a history major with a 3.52 grade point average who also made the second team in 2011. This past season, Cimber appeared in 19 games for the UW, posting a 3.45 ERA over 28.2 innings.

Meggs, a junior outfielder from Terre Haute, Ind., boasts a 3.45 GPA as an economics major. He was a first-team academic all-league selection last season. In 2012, Meggs started 49 of the Huskies' 55 games in left field and, through the end of the regular season, ranked No. 2 in the nation with 24 sacrifice hits.

A junior shortstop who made just one error in all of 2012, Afenir (Murrieta, Calif.) is an anthropology major with a 3.21 grade point average. He started 29 games for the Huskies in 2012.

Brigham, a sophomore pitcher from Federal Way, Wash., spent much of the 2012 season in the UW's starting pitching rotation. A business administration major with a 3.44 grade point average, he pitched in 11 games in 2012, starting seven.

Palewicz is a redshirt-sophomore reliever from Seattle's Ballard High. A civil engineering major with a 3.04 GPA, Palewicz pitched in 25 games in 2012, second-most on the team.
