Romar Adds Walk-On Dion Overstreet

SEATTLE -- Washington Coach Lorenzo Romar announced that Dion Overstreet will join the Husky basketball team this season as a walk-on.

Overstreet is a 5-foot-9 guard that played for Edmonds Community College under the guidance of Coach Sean Higgins during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. He graduated from Venice High School in 2009.

Overstreet averaged 13.9 points, 2.8 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 21 games during the 2010-11 season. He shot 32% from 3-point range (34x105) and 35% from the field overall (93x265). Overstreet scored 20 or more points five times, including 42 points with 7-of-12 3-pointers in an overtime win vs. Shoreline CC.

In his first season at Edmonds, Overstreet averaged 5.6 ppg, 2.1 apg and 2.4 rpg, including a season-high 20 points vs. Olympic CC.

Before embarking on his basketball career, Overstreet made a name for himself in acting. At the age of 7 he appeared in commercials for AT&T, Burger King and McDonalds. He has also made appearances in such television shows as Bernie Mac, Moesha and Malcolm in The Middle.

Overstreet joins Quinn Sterling as the second walk-on for the Huskies this season.

Camp gets started for the Huskies on Friday, Oct. 12 at 5:00 p.m.
