Zach Clem, a catcher/infielder for the Washington baseball team, has been named the Pacific International League's Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Clem, playing summer ball for the Bellingham (Wash.) Bells in the PIL, went 9-for-16 (.563) for the Bells last week, while also belting three doubles, a triple and a home run with seven runs batted in.
In a win over Kelowna (B.C.), Clem went 3-for-5 with six RBI and a grand slam, falling only a single short of hitting for the cycle.
As a freshman at the UW this past spring, Clem saw limited action, going 0-for-3 with an RBI in five appearances.
