SEATTLE - After each game, Coach Tyrone Willingham and the Husky football coaching staff will name the Huskies' Pepsi Players of the Game for that week's performance. The winners following the UW's 21-10 win over Arizona are quarterback Isaiah Stanback, linebacker Scott White, returner/receiver Marlon Wood, quarterback Jake Locker and linebackers T.J. Poe and Mark Farney.
Stanback, a senior from Seattle, completed 14 of 25 pass attempts for 293 yards, one interception and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 57 yards on 10 carries. After opening the game 0-for-4 with the interception, Stanback closed out the first half by completing 10-of-10 for 244 yards and two TDs. That stretch included 44-, 50- and 55-yard passes. He ended up completing 11 straight passes.
Despite a shoulder injury that kept him from practicing much during the week and also from starting the game, White, a senior from Lemon Grove, Calif., had a stellar day, leading the UW with 10 tackles, eight solo and two assists. He also notched three tackles for a loss of 29 yards, including two quarterback sacks for 25 yards in losses. As at team, the Huskies held Arizona to minus-7 yards rushing offense, thanks largely to six sacks.
Wood, a junior from Tampa, Fla., was recognized for his work on special teams. He returned three punts for a total of 43 yards and also played as a receiver and on kickoff return.
Poe, a sophomore from Enumclaw, Farney, a sophomore from Bellevue and Locker, a freshman from Ferndale, were honored for their work on the Huskies' service teams.
