SEATTLE - The Washington baseball team overcame a couple of early deficits to win its 10th straight game, 11-6, over Hawaii-Hilo Tuesday night at Husky Ballpark.

The 10-game winning streak is the Huskies' longest since they won 11 in a row in 2003. They improved to 15-6 on the season while Hilo fell to 7-13.

Washington reliever Ben Guidos (2-0) worked three innings, allowing one run, for the victory. Hilo starter Kekoa Lee (1-2) gave up seven earned runs in three innings to take the loss.

After having been shut out the day before, the Vulcans were quick to get on the board Tuesday. In the second inning, Dayne Ogawa led off with a double down the left-field line. After moving to third, he scored on a bloop single from catcher Peter Rodgers.

In the bottom of the second, the UW drew even when Kyle Conley walked and eventually came in to score on a Joey Dunn sacrifice fly.

But, Hilo replied in the third, scoring four runs with a two-out rally. With two down and no one on, Ogawa doubled for the second time. He scored on a single from Matt Haasenritter and, after another single from Thomas Brown, catcher Peter Rodgers belted a three-run homer, giving the visitors a 5-1 lead.

Once again, however, the Huskies were able to answer the Vulcans as, in the bottom of the third, Conley belted his fourth home run of the season, a three-run shot deep to left, drawing the UW within a run at 5-4. Conley also homered in Monday's win over Hilo.

In the fourth, Washington finally took its first lead. David Bentrott beat out a bunt single and went to third on a double from Michael Burgher. Bradley Boyer followed with a single to drive in Bentrott, tying the game at 5-5. Doug Cherry followed, reaching base on an errant throw as Burgher scored the go-ahead run and, with reliever Jeffrey Germain on in place of starter Kekoa Lee, Boyer came in on a wild pitch. A Troy Scott single drove in Cherry to cap the inning with the UW ahead, 8-5.

UHH's Alvis Satele led off the fifth with a homer to right, but the UW padded its lead in the sixth when Dunn drove in a pair with a with a double and then scored on a Bentrott double.

Bentrott finished the day 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles while Conley and Dunn each had three RBI. Rodgers led the Vulcans, going 2-for-3 with four batted in.

The Huskies and Vulcans wrap up the three-game series Wednesday with a 1:00 p.m. game. This weekend, the UW opens Pac-10 play at Oregon State. All three of this weekend's games will air live on KKNW AM-1150 and Sunday's will be shown live on FSN-TV in the Northwest.
