Husky Classic XXIII Notes
Bank of America Arena
Memphis guard Brittany Carter broke the Husky Classic scoring record with 49 points against Sacramento State, but it wasn't the only record she set. Carter also broke the Bank of America record for most points by a women's basketball player, topping the 43 Giuliana Mendiola scored on Feb. 1, 2003 against UCLA. Carter tied for the most points ever at Bank of America. Bob Houbregs also scored 49 points against Idaho on Jan. 1, 1953.
Carter set records as well for most field goals made (16) and attempted (28). Another mark she bested was for free throws attempted (20) and made (15). Ex-Husky Megan Franza had the previous Husky Classic scoring record when she notched 35 against Idaho on Dec. 18, 1999.
Carter was the only tournament participant on Friday to pull down double-digit rebounds (11).
Washington forward Liz Lay missed the game for Washington with knee tendinitis. She will be re-evaluated next week.
Washington forward Mollie Williams set a season-high in points with 10. Her career-high (12) came last year in the Husky Classic's championship game against Clemson.
Regina Rogers has scored in double figures for three consecutive games.
