SEATTLE - University of Washington football fans who can't get enough of the action might just do so on Husky Game Day Saturdays if 950 KJR AM has anything to say about it.
The flagship station of the Washington ISP Sports Network, KJR is scheduled to provide at least 11 hours of Washington Husky football coverage each Saturday, beginning with this week's season opener against 11th-ranked LSU at Husky Stadium.
Catch Husky games on the radio throughout the Pacific Northwest through the Washington ISP Sports Network.
The "Husky Tailgate Show" with Dave "Softy" Mahler, Dick Baird and Hugh Millen will begin three-and-a-half hours prior to game time. The 90-minute show will focus on an insider's perspective on the upcoming Washington game from the popular trio of "Husky Honks." For all home games, the show will originate from The Zone - the UW's new pre-game tailgate party located on the east practice field, adjacent to Husky Stadium.
Two hours before kickoff, the Washington ISP Sports Network (which includes Dawg Channel All-Access on GoHuskies.com) joins the Husky Honks for the network-wide "Husky Gameday" show. Also hosted by Mahler, Baird and Millen, the 60-minute show will continue the active discussion of the previous show and will feature former UW players, coaches and current staffers such as athletic director Scott Woodward.
Veteran play-by-play announcer Bob Rondeau, Check Nelson and Elise Woodward join the fun one-hour before the game with the official "Husky Pregame" show, live from the Press Box at the game. The network-wide pregame will not only analyze the upcoming contest, but will feature an exclusive interview with Coach Steve Sarkisian and a look at the starting lineups for both teams.
After the game, the Husky Postgame Show with Rondeau, Nelson and Woodward will not only analyze the game. The trio will provide the thoughts of Coach Sarkisian and select players and replay the top highlights of the contest.
Mahler, Baird and Millen will return to the airwaves one hour after the final gun sounds for Husky Talk, a 90-minute show that gives fans a chance to call-in and voice their opinion of that day's game. The trio will provide a detailed analysis and look ahead to the next game.
During the week, KJR and the Washington ISP Sports Network broadcast the Steve Sarkisian show each Tuesday at 7 p.m., live from Anthony's Homeport Shilshole. Prior to the show, Woodward hosts "Husky Rewind," which takes a look back at the previous week's game. During the week, KJR also airs the "Husky Honks Show" each Wednesday at noon.
