AUSTIN, Texas - Just one Husky was in action Friday at the Texas Relays, but freshman Joe Zimmerman still made it a noteworthy day with a very strong collegiate debut. The Spokane, Wash. native took fourth in the B-flight of the javelin at the Texas Relays at Myers Stadium.

Zimmerman, the 2009 Washington State 4A Champion out of Lewis & Clark High School, threw 213-feet, 7-inches on his third attempt. He would throw over 200-feet on his fifth and sixth attempts of the day as well.

At last year's Pac-10 Championships, Zimmerman's 213-7 mark would have placed him seventh overall, and also would have been eleven feet better than last year's Regional mark under the old system.

Saturday, javelin All-Americans Kyle Nielsen and Brooke Pighin will both compete in the top flights to close out UW's stint at the Texas Relays.
