SEATTLE - University of Washington coaches Steve Sarkisian and Lorenzo Romar are headed to Yakima on May 20 for a Huskies Celebrating Huskies event at the Apple Tree Resort, and they are bringing special guest and Yakima Native and former Husky golfer Brock Mackenzie!
Huskies Celebrating Huskies is a four-stop regional outreach event designed to bring UW coaches, staff and selected student-athletes closer to the fans that support the school's athletics program. Other events this spring included stops in Tacoma (May 11), Portland (May 13) and Bellingham (May 18). In future years, the event will visit other communities in the region, including Spokane, Everett and Port Orchard.
"We are excited to have the chance to bring our Husky family to Yakima and connect with some of our many loyal fans," said Jennifer Cohen, UW's senior associate athletic director for advancement. "Our coaches and staff are looking forward to the opportunity to visit with our fans and enjoy their company in a relaxing and fun environment."
The May 20 Yakima event is scheduled begin with a reception and various kid-friendly activities (weather permitting) at 6 p.m. A buffet dinner is scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m., immediately followed by a Husky sports-themed program. The cost is $60 for general admission, $20 for kids ages 18 and under and $150 for a family (two adults, two children). Children ages 3 and under are free.
Space for each of the four events is limited. Registration is available by visiting the UW Alumni Association website at www.UWAlum.com/cheer or by calling (206) 543-0540 or (800) AUW-ALUM.
Huskies Celebrating Huskies is the result of an event partnership between UW Athletics, the UW Alumni Association and presenting sponsor AirVan. It was created to provide the schools loyal fans a unique opportunity to engage with each other in a relaxed, one-on-one environment.
