LACEY, Wash. -
By Gail Wood
LACEY, Wash. - It seemed like an unlikely place to find a former first-round draft pick who once started at defensive tackle in a Super Bowl.
But there stood (former UW standout) Ron Holmes, arms folded across his massive chest as the Northwest Christian High School football team practiced.
"That's the way," shouted Holmes, his voice booming across the field. "That's the way."
Holmes, at 6-foot-5, literally towered over the players scrimmaging.
"You want to force him inside," Holmes said with his hand on a player's shoulder pads.
Far removed from the spotlight of the Super Bowl, the NFL or major college football, Holmes is an assistant coach for a small Christian school that's won two games this season.
