Sept. 7, 2006
Mark your calendar for Saturday, September 30th and Sunday, October 1st, 2006. It's that time of year again for the Husky Baseball Golf Tournament and Alumni Game. We've made some changes to hopefully make the weekend better for all.
Saturday, September 30th marks the return of the annual alumni game. Registration and check-in are from 12:00-12:30 (free parking in Montlake begins at 12:00 noon). In an effort to give everyone as many swings on the field as possible, we've decided to have a full pre-game for the alumni game. Alums will be split into two groups, with each team getting a one-hour batting practice rotation on the field and full infield/outfield.
The first of two alumni games will pit the current Husky team against alums who played in the program from 1990-2005 in a seven inning contest. The second game will hopefully begin a new tradition for alumni weekend. One of the new twists this year is that alums who played in the program prior to 1990 will take on the Seattle University alums in a five inning contest beginning at the conclusion of the first game.
As Seattle U. no longer has a baseball program, and many of the Chieftain alums are great supporters of Husky Baseball, we thought it would be great to adopt them and get them officially involved in alumni weekend. After the game, we are inviting everyone to enjoy dinner and drinks at 6:00 p.m. in the Conibear Shellhouse to hopefully watch the Husky football game vs. Arizona (if it is televised).
Sunday, October 1st we will meet at Washington National Golf Club in Auburn. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start. The cost of the tournament will cover golf, cart, practice time at the driving range, lunch, prizes and lots of fun. Drinks will be available during the tournament for purchase. If you or your business would like to contribute to a hole please fill out the information on the registration form, all donated dollars go directly to program enhancement and are tax deductible.
We look forward to a weekend filled with many activities, catching up with old friends and making new ones. We hope you will join us in welcoming our alumni along with new members of the Husky Baseball Team. If you have any questions, email Kevin Ticen at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 206-616-4579. Please fill out the registration form (at the top of this page) and return them right away.
