Regatta Notes: The Huskies are hoping the weather clears for Saturday racing ... the area is currently on a tornado watch ... Cradle of Coaches - the Huskies' varsity eight semi-final heat pits top-seeded and third-ranked Washington, racing in lane 3, against fourth-ranked Princeton in lane two and fifth-ranked Syracuse in lane four ... Princeton is coached by Lori Dauphiny, who won a national championship as a rower at Washington in 1984 ... Princeton coach Kris Sanford rowed for the Huskies from 1986-88 ... Regatta Director for the championships this year is Sara Nevin, Executive Director of the Lake Lanier RowingClub ... Nevin is a former Husky rower and three-time national champion for Washington ... she won three varsity eight titles, in 1983-85, along with teammate and current UW novice coach Eleanor McElvaine ... top ranked and two-time defending NCAA champion Brown is coached by John Murphy, who was the Washington women's novice coach from 1979-80 ... he and current Husky head coach Jan Harville have each won a pair of NCAA titles, since the sport became sanctioned by the NCAA four years ago ... Washington will participate in the exhibition "Spares" race Friday morning. The Husky spares - Shannon Oates and Jessica Harm - will race in heat two at 11:50 a.m. against California, Brown, USC and Michigan State ... Washington's junior varsity eight and varsity four both advanced, after heat racing, directly to grand finals on Saturday.
