SEATTLE - University of Washington coaches Steve Sarkisian and Lorenzo Romar, along with basketball players Isaiah Thomas and Abdul Gaddy, are headed to Tacoma on May 11 for the inaugural Huskies Celebrating Huskies event at Philip Hall on the UW Tacoma campus.

Huskies Celebrating Huskies is a four-stop regional outreach event designed to bring UW coaches, staff and selected student-athletes closer to the fans that support the school's athletics program. Other events this spring include stops in Portland (May 13), Bellingham (May 18) and Yakima (May 20). In future years, the event will visit other communities in the region, including Spokane, Everett and Port Orchard.

"We are excited to have the chance to bring our Husky family to Tacoma and connect with some of our most loyal fans," said Jennifer Cohen, UW's senior associate athletic director for advancement. "Our coaches and staff are looking forward to the opportunity to visit with our fans and enjoy their company in a relaxing and fun environment."

The May 11 Tacoma event is scheduled begin with a reception and various kid-friendly activities (weather permitting) at 6 p.m. A buffet dinner, provided by The Vault Catering Company, is scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m., immediately followed by a Husky sports-themed program. The cost is $60 for general admission, $20 for kids ages 18 and under and $150 for a family (two adults, two children). Children ages 3 and under are free.

Space for each of the four events is limited. Registration is available by visiting the UW Alumni Association website at www.UWAlum.com/cheer or by calling (206) 543-0540 or (800) AUW-ALUM.

Huskies Celebrating Huskies is the result of an event partnership between UW Athletics, the UW Alumni Association and presenting sponsor AirVan. It was created to provide the school's loyal fans a unique opportunity to engage with each other in a relaxed, one-on-one environment.
