THIS WEEK: The Washington baseball team (25-22 overall, 8-10 in the Pac-10 Conference) enters the final three weekends of the regular season, with only conference games remaining on the schedule, with a trip to face Oregon State (24-18 overall, 7-11 Pac-10). While the Huskies and Beavers currently stand eighth and ninth in the Pac-10 standings, both of them are well within striking distance of second place as Stanford holds that spot with a 10-8 record, just two games better than the UW and three ahead of OSU. The Huskies enter the series looking to rebound from a sweep at the hands of UCLA last weekend in Seattle after having swept Stanford the week before while the Beavers turned things around with three straight, one-run victories over rival Oregon last weekend in Corvallis one week after being swept by Cal. This weekend's series at Goss Stadium gets underway Friday night with a 5:30 p.m. game. Saturday's game starts at 2:00 p.m. and the series wraps up with a 1:00 p.m. game Sunday. All three games will air live on KKNW AM-1150 radio in the Seattle area (you can also listen online via gohuskies.com). Saturday's game will also air on live television on FSN. The UW will start junior LHP Geoff Brown on Friday and sophomore RHP Andrew Kittredge on Saturday. Sunday's starter has yet to be determined. The Huskies' final two weekends of the regular season feature a home series against Oregon May 21-23 before a trip to USC May 28-30. Here's a look at this weekend's action:

Fri., May 14: UW at OSU, 5:30 p.m. - RADIO: KKNW AM-1150
Sat., May 15: UW at OSU, 2:00 p.m. - RADIO: KKNW AM-1150; TV: Live on FSN-NW
Sun., May 16: UW at OSU, 1:00 p.m. - RADIO: KKNW AM-1150

COACH MEGGS: Lindsay Meggs was named the Huskies' new head coach in July of 2009, just the third different UW head coach in 34 years. Meggs came to the UW after having spent the last three seasons at Indiana State and the 13 prior to that at Chico State, where he won NCAA Division II national championships in 1997 and 1999. He helped Chico to the D-II College World Series seven times and won the league eight times. At Indiana State, he was named Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year in 2009 after guiding the Sycamores to a second-place finish, their highest since 1998. Meggs currently boasts a 640-329-4 record over 16-plus seasons as a four-year college head coach. He'd previously served as head coach at Long Beach City College and Oxnard College. Born in San Jose and a graduate of Saratoga (Calif.) High, Meggs played four seasons as the starting third baseman at UCLA. He was drafted by the Brewers in 1983, and then again by the Royals after his senior year in 1984. Meggs is joined by assistant coaches Dave Nakama, Greg Moore and Kevin Ticen.

SERIES HISTORY: Oregon State leads the all-time series against Washington with 221 wins, 180 loss and one tie. Last season in Seattle, the UW won two of three over OSU. In the opener, played at Safeco Field, the Beavers won, 6-4. The following day at Husky Ballpark, Julien Pollard's first-inning grand slam sparked the Huskies to a 15-6 win. In the series finale, an RBI single from pinch hitter Aaron Russell broke a 3-3 tie as the Dawgs won, 4-3. Two seasons ago in Corvallis, OSU won two of three, sweeping a Saturday doubleheader after a Friday rainout before the UW took game three.
