SEATTLE - Both the men's and women's crew programs at Washington will conclude the fall season at the Head of the Lake Regatta on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 8 a.m.

The 3-mile head race begins in Lake Union and continues through Portage Bay and the Montlake Cut before spilling into Lake Washington. Unlike the Head of the Charles, where just one boat apiece was sent to Boston, the Huskies plan to race a wide variety of boats to allow all aspects of the program to get valuable racing experience. The crews racing at HOTL will go off in 15 second intervals, and will feature many of the Northwest-based schools such as Oregon State, Gonzaga, Western Washington, Washington State and the University of British Columbia. The event is co-hosted by the Huskies' crew program and the Lake Washington Rowing Club.

Washington is entered in several categories, and will split their boats accordingly. The men's crews will start first with the collegiate open eight race followed by the women's collegiate eight. The end of the collegiate racing category will come with the open four races, where both men's and women's teams will have a handful of boats entered. There will also be long list of local clubs and high school programs competing as well.

For a complete race schedule, visit the official Head of the Lake Regatta Page. Race recaps and results will also be available on following the conclusion of the Regatta.

Note: During the week, the Huskies held their annual "Pair Head" race, which is a 6,000-meter competition in pair boats. The winning pair gets his & her picture emblazoned on a plaque in Conibear Shellhouse, along with unique Pair Head t-shirt. The winners in 2010 were Mathis Jessen & Tom Lehmann for the men and Skye Pearman-Gillman & Victoria Nenchev for the women. Both were first-time winners in the Pair Head.
