SEATTLE - Two more talented local distance runners have recently signed their Letters of Intent and will be joining the ever-growing Husky recruiting class of 2013-14. Head Coach Greg Metcalf announced the additions of Johnathan Stevens from Redmond High School and Keith Williams from North Central High School in Spokane.

Stevens and Williams bring the total incoming freshman class to 16 athletes, and they are the fourth and fifth men's distance runners to join the group, along with Jamie Coughlin (Seattle, Wash.), Sumner Goodwin (Spokane, Wash.), and A.J. Yarnall (Santa Clarita, Calif.). Williams will join another North Central recruit next year at UW: Katie Knight.

"Johnathan and Keith are a couple great local kids poised to have great senior seasons on the track," said Metcalf. "They'll mesh well with our group which will be loaded with potential next season."

Stevens qualified for the 4A State Track Championships last year at both 1,600-meters and 3,200-meters, taking eighth in the 1,600-meter final. He was a top-five finisher at the KingCo Cross Country Championships each of the past three years as well.

Williams has shown a lot of range, making the 3A state finals at 800-meters and 1,600-meters last season as a junior, as well as running well on the cross country course as a top-10 state finisher the past two years. He also was eighth at the 2012 Nike Cross Nationals Northwest Regionals, and went on to place 54th at the national meet. Williams ran an indoor mile PR of 4:13.21 just last month in the Dempsey at the UW Indoor Open.
