Postgame Quotes vs. Western Washington (Exh), Nov. 6, 2008

Lorenzo Romar, UW Head Coach Opening comments:
"Well it was good for us to finally get out there on the floor. I look back to try to compare where we were last year at this time to this year and I think we're further along. I thought we played very good defense in spurts. I thought we had too many spurts where we didn't. We kind of relaxed. We can't do that next Saturday when we play at Portland. Overall, there were a lot of positives. We were a little negligent on our passing sometimes made the wrong decision, shot when we shouldn't have, passed when we should have shot. Those type of things that should be ironed out later. We didn't rebound all that well in the Wyoming scrimmage but I thought we did a better job on the boards. Our guys were aggressive attacking the glass tonight. I thought that was really good."

Senior Forward Jon Brockman
On the team's performance:

"I thought we played (something) like 30 minutes of great basketball. There were times when we were playing that I thought we looked unbelievable. We were just working on the defensive end. Guys were moving, guys were talking. Then all of the sudden, it would go dead and guys wouldn't be getting back on defense. But, for the most part I thought we played a pretty good ball game."

Freshman guard Isaiah Thomas
On what tonight was like for him

"I was anxious to get out here. But, like I told you guys before, once the tip-off came it was normal. The lights game on and it was time to perform, and we did a good job at that today."

On whether his drives will be successful later in the season:
"Tonight my shot wasn't really falling, my three point shot. That's not really going to happen a lot, I don't think, because of the work that I've put in. I really don't drive as much as I did today but my shot wasn't falling so I had to do something else. So if its vice-versa then I'll be shooting the jumper a lot more."

On what a 27 point night means to him:
"Like you said it's just another day at the office. I've got to come back tomorrow and get better at practice. Just build on this and be ready for next Saturday.

Brad Jackson, WWU Head Coach
"This is a great venue. I've always said this is one of the best arenas in the country, especially since the remodeled it from the old Hec Ed. It is a neat opportunity for our guys to play here. It is really good for our team. You learn a lot about yourself playing against superior athletes like they have. They created problems for us with their defense and their strong backcourt. I thought our guys did well, but we had some ebb and flow. We have to continue playing hard when that happens and we'll be alright." On Isaiah Thomas: "I've watched him play a lot growing up and what he did tonight was not surprising. Obviously he is more mature than most freshman having been out of high school for a couple of years. He creates so many things for you on offense. It is like guarding air; he is there and then he's not there. He will be a great addition to their ballclub."
