Dec. 24, 2006

The Washington men's basketball team takes two days off for a brief Christmas break before returning to campus to resume practice Dec. 26 for Thursday's Pac-10 opener at USC.

GoHuskies.com talked with several players about their holiday memories and their plans for Christmas.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE CHRISTMAS BREAK OR WHAT HOLIDAY TRADITIONS DOES YOUR FAMILY HAVE?

Adrian Oliver

  • "I look forward to going home. I haven't been home since June. So, I am looking forward to going home and opening gifts."

    Quincy Pondexter

  • "We just wake up really early, like 5 o'clock and open presents and drink egg nog."

    Hans Gasser

  • "I'll spend Christmas with my family. My parents just moved from Issaquah to the SeaTac area, so it is the first Christmas at the new house."

    Phil Nelson

  • "I'm looking forward to seeing my mom, I haven't seen her for a while. So, going to see her for a couple of days makes me happy."

    Jon Brockman

  • "I look forward to going to the Christmas Eve service with the whole family. We have a little gift exchange with a different theme every year, this year is snack foods that you make. So, I have got to make a little snack or something like that. Then, just spending time with family and relaxing. We do our Christmas in the morning on Christmas Day. We get to exchange one gift on Christmas Eve."

    Ryan Appleby

  • "Getting a chance to get to go home, I guess. It is Christmas, so it is good to go home."

    Justin Dentmon

  • "I'm looking forward to seeing all of my family members and all of my friends."

    Spencer Hawes

  • "We have a Christmas crab feed at my uncle Steve's house, on my dad's side of the family. So, I look forward to that. That is on Christmas Eve after church."

    Artem Wallace

  • "Just getting back home, hanging out with the family, and getting that big Christmas dinner going. I'll probably just stay off of my feet, and get some family time."

WHAT IS THE MOST MEMORABLE PRESENT YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?

    Adrian Oliver

  • "It was my Wrestling Buddies I got when was six. I'm a big fan of wrestling and I was excited when I got those. I still have them to this day."

    Quincy Pondexter

  • "Probably tickets to a Lakers game. It was two years ago and I was really excited to get them."

    Hans Gasser

  • "Probably Shawn Kemp Kamikaze gold Reeboks. I loved those."

    Jon Brockman

  • "When I was in about third grade I got a Creepy Crawler Machine that makes crawlers. I thought that was pretty cool."

    Ryan Appleby

  • "I got a Pistol Pete Maravich jersey one year for Christmas. It was an Atlanta Hawks throwback jersey they came out with when I was probably 14 or 15."

    Justin Dentmon

  • "Either a Playstation or a basketball."

    Spencer Hawes

  • "I got a fire truck one time, when I was like six or seven. That was my favorite, except it got stolen."

    Artem Wallace

  • "I don't remember any special gift. I really like to give gifts more than receive them."

WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR CHRISTMAS?

    Adrian Oliver

  • "All I want for Christmas is happiness and peace in the world."

    Quincy Pondexter

  • "I have everything I want. I just want more wins."

    Hans Gasser

  • "Time off."

    Phil Nelson

  • "I'm a big cell phone guy, so we'll see what happens."

    Jon Brockman

  • "This year, I have my hopes set on a big Pac-Man thing, like the ones you see in a real arcade. I've had my eye on that, so we will see."

    Ryan Appleby

  • "Nothing really. I think I am getting over the presents stage. I am a better giver than receiver."

    Justin Dentmon

  • "I already got what I wanted for Christmas. My mom came out here from Illinois. That is what I really wanted."

    Spencer Hawes

  • "I want some stuff for my new PlayStation. And money."

    Artem Wallace

  • "I'm not that big of a gift guy. Nothing really special, just the same stuff everyone else gets."
