Eleven Huskies Earn Pac-10 Academic Honors

A total of 11 Husky football players were named to the 2005 Pac-10 Conference All-Academic teams today, including two first-team selections, three second-teamers and six that received honorable mention.

Sophomore wide receiver Cody Ellis (Puyallup, Wash.), a sociology major who boasts a 3.68 grade point average, and senior fullback Ty Eriks (Seattle, Wash.), a neurobiology student with a 3.73 GPA, were named to the first team.

Senior tailback James Sims (Las Vegas, Nev.), sophomore defensive lineman Greyson Gunheim (Sebastopol, Calif.) and senior placekicker Evan Knudson (Lacey, Wash.) were listed on the second team.

Six other UW student-athletes earned all-academic honorable mention: junior linebacker Tahj Bomar (Kent, Wash.), sophomore placekicker Michael Braunstein (Gilbert, Ariz.),, sophomore tight end Jared Bronson (Kent, Wash.), sophomore tight end Robert Lewis (Van Nuys, Calif.), junior defensive end Donny Mateaki (Honolulu, Hawaii) and senior quarterback Casey Paus (New Lenox, Ill.).
