Washington junior men's golfer Alex Prugh travels to Scotland this week to participate in the Amateur Championship at Royal St. George's and Prince's from June 19-24. American college players Kevin Chappell, Stuart Moore, Dustin Pimm and Prugh head the U.S. entry of 19 amateurs. More information on the tournament can be found at www.randa.org.
Closer to home, recently graduated Husky golfer James Lepp makes his professional debut at the Greater Vancouver Charity Classic, a Canadian Tour stop, June 15-18. At the 2003 GVCC, Lepp became the first amateur since Ron McMillan (1996) to win a Tour event, holding off Champions Tour winner Mark Johnson and Nathan Fritz by five shots. Lepp, recently named a Pac-10 medal winner, will not be the only former Husky standout playing the event, however, as four-time All-American Brock Mackenzie will join the 156-player field.
