WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Junior long snapper Brendan Lopez headlines a group of six Washington football players who earned Academic All-Pac-10 honors for the 2010 season as the conference office announced the squad today.
Lopez was named to the first time while linebacker Victor Aiyewa and fullback Austin Sylvester picked up second-team honors. Linebacker Cort Dennison, kicker Erik Folk and center Drew Schaefer earned honorable mention.
Lopez, from Bellevue, Wash., is in his first season as the Huskies' starting long snapper. He was listed as an offensive lineman on the first team. Lopez is majoring in microbiology and boasts a 3.68 cumulative grade point average.
Aiyewa, a senior from Fresno Texas, is a sociology major with a 3.17 GPA while Sylverster, a senior Reno, Nev., is majoring in history with a 3.07 average.
The Huskies next take the field Thursday at 5:00 p.m. when UCLA visits for a nationally-televised game (ESPN).
