SEATTLE - University of Washington pitcher Tim Lincecum added to his list of honors when he was named one of three National Freshmen of the Year by Collegiate Baseball magazine last week.

Lincecum, a 5-foot-11 right-hander from Renton's Liberty High, shared the honor with UC Irvine reliever Blair Erickson, who led the nation in saves, and Alabama lefty Wade LeBlanc.

The announcement was made as part of Collegiate Baseball's Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team selections.

Lincecum, who will participate in the USA Baseball National Team Trials later this month, was named the Pac-10's Freshman of the Year and Pitcher of the Year after finishing the season with a 10-3 record and a 3.53 earned run average. He also struck out a school record 161 batters in only 112.1 innings and finished the year second in the nation in strikeouts.
