The 24th-ranked Washington men's golf team travels across three time zones this week as the Huskies head to Evans, Ga., for the Administaff Augusta State Invitational April 1-2. The 28th-annual event, hosted by Augusta State University, will be played at the par-72, 7,265-yard course at Champions Retreat Golf Club.
The tournament schedule calls for 36 holes of play Saturday, April 1 with an 8:00 a.m. (ET) shotgun start. Sunday's final round will feature 18 holes of play, beginning at 10 a.m. Augusta State, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, Georgia Southern, LSU, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Tennessee, UCLA, South Carolina-Aiken, Virginia Tech and Washington make up the 15-team field.
Juniors Erik Olson and Alex Prugh, co-runners up at the National Invitational last weekend, spearhead the Husky lineup, along with 2005 NCAA Champion James Lepp. Prugh leads the UW with a 72.50 stroke average. Zach Bixler and Joe Panzeri will also participate for Washington. Panzeri earned co-medalist honors last weekend at the Duck Invitational.
