NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Right fielder Michael Camporeale hit a grand slam and drove in seven runs total as the Washington baseball team wrapped up its four-game road trip with an 18-6 win over Cal State Northridge Monday at Matador Field.

The Huskies, who took two of three from UC Irvine over the weekend, improved to 5-3 on the season while Northridge fell to 5-3. The game was called after seven innings due to the Huskies' travel plans.

Camporeale's grand slam was one of three homers on the day for the Huskies, who scored multiple runs in six of the seven innings played. He finished the game 3-for-5 with a pair of run-scoring singles to go along with the slam. Third baseman Jacob Lamb and catcher Ryan Wiggins added two-run homers for the UW.

Freshman Branden Berry also notched three hits, including two doubles, to help lead the Husky offense. Seven players finished with multiple hits and five had multiple runs batted in.

Washington got off to a good start with two runs in the top of the first inning. Jayce Ray walked to lead off the game. After an infield single from Robert Pehl, he and Ray stole second and third before a two-out single from Camporeale drove them both in.

Pehl and Branden Berry led off the third inning with back-to-back singles, and once again Camporeale came through with a hit, singling to drive in Pehl. After an out, Berry scored all the way from second base on a wild pitch, increasing the Husky lead to 4-0. After a second out, UW catcher Ryan Wiggins belted a two-run homer to left field to make it 6-0.

With one out in the bottom of the third, Northridge loaded the bases on a walk, a hit batter and a single. Tommy Simis followed with an infield single to drive in one and a sacrifice fly from Marty Bowen brought home another. A balk then allowed Kyle Attl to score from third, cutting the Husky lead to 6-3.

Washington opened the fourth inning with a walk to Ray and a single from Joe Meggs. After a double steal, a Pehl groundout plated Ray from third and a Berry double drove in Meggs to make it 8-3.

The Husky offense continued to score in the fifth. Lamb led off with a walk. After moving to third on a Wiggins single, he scored when Ray doubled to center field. Wiggins then scored on a fielder's choice from Pehl and Berry knocked his second double of the game to drive in Ray, increasing the lead to 11-3.

CSUN got three runs back in the fifth when Simis doubled and scored on a double from Todd Eskelin. After loading the bases, the Matadors scored two more on a two-out single from Brett Balkan.

Washington was back at it in the sixth as Lamb belted his first homer of the season, a two-run drive to left field, upping the lead to 13-6.

In the seventh, the Huskies loaded the bases on a single, a walk and a hit batter before Camporeale drove a ball out to left for a grand slam, capping his seven-RBI day.

UW reliever Zach Wright (2-0) pitched the fourth and fifth innings to pick up the victory in relief of first-time starter Steven Swift. CSUN starter Jacob Petersen (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing six runs over three innings.

This weekend, the UW plays host to Saint Joseph's in a three-day, four-game series at Husky Ballpark. The Huskies and Hawks play Friday night at 5:00 p.m. and then begin a doubleheader Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The series wraps up with a 1:00 p.m. game on Sunday.
