WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- The Pac-12 Conference office announced today that Talia Walton was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week. Walton averaged 15.5 points and seven rebound in Washington's weekend split with UCLA and USC.
This is the third Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honor for Walton, all coming during conference play. She also won the award after sweeping the Arizona and Oregon schools at home. This award is for week of March 4-10.
This past weekend, Walton helped Washington to a split against the L.A. schools. On Friday, Walton was the team's scoring leader with 18 points as the Dawgs nearly upset No. 17 UCLA, 65-61. Walton was 4-for-5 from 3-point range as the Huskies made 12 threes. She also added five rebounds and two steals.
On Sunday, Walton had 12 points and 9 rebounds and scored key baskets in Washington's win 61-58 over USC. She had two steals and two blocks while finishing one rebound shy of a double-double.
Walton and the Dawgs will now travel to Oregon to face the Ducks and Beavers this weekend. Washington is 17-6 (9-3 Pac-12) and alone in fourth place in the conference.
