WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Commissioner Larry Scott announced today that Washington senior forward Quincy Pondexter has been named the Pac-10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 11-17.

Pondexter, of Fresno, Calif., led the Huskies to a weekend sweep over Stanford band California, averaging 26.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games. He shot a combined 12-for-12 from the charity stripe and 19-for-31 (61 percent) from the field.

In Thursday's 94-61 win over the Cardinal, Pondexter recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 27 points and 10 rebounds as Washington stopped its three-game losing streak. He tied a career-high with three blocks and set a career-high making 12 field goals (12-for-16). In Saturday's 84-69 victory over the Golden Bears, he sparked the Huskies to a quick start, scoring 21 of his 25 points in the first half. He also pulled down five boards and was a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line.

For the season, Pondexter ranks among the Pac-10 leaders in many statistical categories, including third in scoring (20.3 ppg), fourth in rebounding (7.9 rpg) and free throw percentage (83 percent), fifth in field goal percentage (56 percent) and eight in steals (1.53 spg).

This is third weekly honor for Pondexter this season, third overall, and Washington's 36th all-time Player of the Week.

Pondexter joins an elite group of Huskies for number of weekly awards won in a career. Jon Brockman holds the all-time record with five, followed by Brandon Roy's four and Chris Welp's three.
