Washington's Annual Spring Fling Set for Saturday

Seattle - The Washington athletic department's eighth annual Spring Fling, presented by Fox Sports Net, will be held Saturday, April 26 on the Husky campus. In addition to the Huskies' annual Spring Football Game, this year's event will feature regular-season crew, baseball and softball contests, a volleyball scrimmage and an alumni swim meet. All of the events are free to the public with the exception of reserved seating at the softball game. Parking is free on campus after noon.

In addition to the live sporting events, the popular Husky Experience for Kids will take place at Husky Stadium from 11 a.m. to noon. Registration for the event begins at 10 a.m. The Husky Experience is an interactive clinic involving the members of the Washington football team and sponsored by the Tyee Sports Council. Activities include a 40-yard dash, tackling drills, field goal kicking, passing and punting. The Husky Experience is open to children ages 12 and under. A free t-shirt and lunch will be provided to the first 600 registered children.

The Washington men's and women's crew gets Spring Fling started with a bang when the Huskies race California in a dual-meet that starts at 9 a.m. on the Montlake Cut. Washington celebrates 100 years of rowing at the University this spring and the matchup between the Huskies and Golden Bears is one of the longest and most storied in the program's history. California's men are the four-time defending national champions and its women's program is currently ranked number-one in the nation after upsetting Washington earlier in the season.

At 10 a.m. the Husky volleyball team will hold a intra-squad scrimmage in Bank of America Arena.

The Washington football team's annual Spring Game will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Husky Stadium. This year's game will feature the 49 returning letterwinners from last year's squad including All-American wide receiver Reggie Williams and record-setting quarterback Cody Pickett.

At 1 p.m. the Husky baseball team will play host to California at Husky Ballpark in a key Pac-10 Conference matchup. The Husky softball team plays defending national champion California at 2 p.m. The final event of the day is an the Alumni Swim Meet at Husky pool that starts at 3 p.m.

Fans who attend all six events (crew, volleyball, football, baseball, softball and swimming) will be eligible to win special prizes, including an all expenses paid trip for two on the Husky Champions Cruise to the Mexican Riviera, courtesy of Renton Travel (www.huskychampionscruise.com).
