Saturday, Jan. 30 - Track and Field Travels to Silver State Invitational at the University of Nevada, Reno.
The Washington men's indoor track and field team climbed into a four-way tie for sixth with Southern Methodist, Clemson, and Texas in this week's Trackwire 25, the only weekly ranking of NCAA Division I track and field. The Huskies totaled 19 points, one more than last week, and surpassed previously sixth-ranked Washington State, who fell into a tie for tenth with 18 points. The University of Arkansas remained number one with 73 votes. The Husky women were unranked, with Louisiana State placing first with 61 votes. Washington's men's team was ranked as high as second in 1998, while the women peaked at number nine.
The Dawgs will get a chance to climb even higher this weekend as they head to the Silver State Invitational, with top teams from throughout the western U.S. expected to attend. The University of Nevada will play host for the event, which will include the Huskies, Washington State, Fresno State, UNLV, Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, and UC Davis. Most Husky tracksters are expected to make the trip.
