CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The 40th-ranked Washington men's tennis team fell to No. 34 Southern Methodist, 4-2, at the H.E.B. Tennis Classic in Corpus Cristi, Texas, Friday afternoon. The loss ended Washington's four match winning streak and dropped its record to 6-3. Doubles play on the day was rained out but the six singles matches were completed.
The two bright spots for the Huskies were junior Eric Drew and redshirt freshman Jeremy Berman. Drew (12-5) won his fifth straight match, including three straight in No. 1 singles play, defeating the Mustangs' Toby Hansson, 6-1, 7-5. Berman (10-5) became the fourth Husky to reach double digit victories with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 win in the No. 6 singles slot against SMU's Gerardo Mulas.
Washington continues play tomorrow, March 7, facing unranked Texas Tech.
