Washington outfielder Chris Magruder and pitcher Jeff Carlsen have both been named to one of two postseason All-America teams announced today.
Magruder, a junior from Yakima, Wash., was named a third-team All-American by Baseball America. Magruder finished the season last week with a .402 batting average, 11 home runs and 57 runs batted in. He also led the Huskies, and the Pac-10, with 33 stolen bases and 89 runs. He holds the school records for season and career runs and steals.
Carlsen, a freshman from Poulsbo, Wash., made the Sporting News' Freshman All-America second team. The 6-foot-6 righthander led the Huskies with his seven wins and completed his freshman campaign with a 7-3 record, a 4.39 ERA and 62 strikeouts.
Baseball America named Stanford pitcher Jeff Austin its player of the year while the Sporting News awarded that honor to USC hurler Seth Etherton.
