EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon extended its win streak to eight in a row over Washington as the Ducks won, 65-51, over the Huskies in front of 5,334 fans in Pac-10 Conference action at McArthur Court.
Washington drops to 5-12 overall and 1-4 in the Pac-10. Oregon, which won its 18th straight home game, improves to 12-4, 3-1.
Megan Franza and Loree Payne, who entered the game ranked first and second in Pac-10 scoring, were both held below their league-leading averages. Franza led the Huskies with 15 points and Payne tallied 10. Oregons Shaquala Williams, third in Pac-10 scoring, had a game-high 20 points.
Oregon used a 9-0 run and held the Huskies scoreless for seven minutes in the first half to establish its lead early. The Ducks took a 29-16 lead at the break.
Franza hit a three pointer early in the second half to pull the Huskies within seven at 16:58, but that was as close as they would get. UW had its own 9-0 run and cut it to nine at 7:52 and then again had it within 10 at 2:38 but it wasnt enough as Washington lost its seventh game in the last eight contests.
The Huskies, who remain one game shy of 500 all-time victories, face Oregon State at 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 22 in Corvallis. OSU downed Washington State, 72-52, Thursday night.
