SEATTLE - Husky sophomore sprint sensation Ja'Warren Hooker is scheduled to run outdoors for the first time this season, competing in the 100- and 200-meter events on Saturday during the six-team Washington Classic track & field meet at Husky Stadium.
Hooker has not competed during the outdoor season due to a stress fracture in his left shin. During the 1998 track campaign, Hooker won the NCAA Indoor 55-meter championship, claimed Pac-10 titles in the 100- and 200-meter events and placed third in the 100 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He is the school record holder in the 100 meters, clocking a time of 10.18 seconds on May 2, 1998 at Husky Stadium.
The Washington Classic begins at 10:30 a.m. with the women's hammer throw. The running events begin with the women's 3,000-meter race at 1 p.m.
The host Huskies will be joined by teams from Eastern Washington, Portland, Portland State, Seattle Pacific and Western Oregon.
