Washington Head Coach June Daugherty

GENERAL REMARKS: This is exciting because it was a total team effort. Its what weve been working for with this team. The bench was huge and thats the kind of effort we have to have in the Pac-10 because the Pac-10 is so tough. Im just really proud of this entire team because there were times in this game that we could have folded up and were tested and you saw how they responded. They fought like warriors and Im just really proud of them.

ON EMILY AUTREY: Emily is a tremendous athlete. Emily and the rest of the freshman class have been put in a situation this year, because of injuries, where theyve had to play a lot. To have a double-double in 10 minutes off the bench in the last 10 minutes of a tight game, thats a dream come true. Emily took over the game as a freshman.

UW Guard Jill Pimley:

This gives us a ton of confidence, this (Arizona State) is a really good team.

UW Post Melissa Erickson:

Emily was our spark off the bench. She came in and played her butt off, she was outstanding, especially for a freshman. Sometimes she acts shy out on the court but tonight she was just an animal out there grabbing every board. Im so proud of her. The bench played great tonight. We showed were not just a five player team.

UW Wing Emily Autrey:

I just wanted to win the game. I wanted to make the most of my playing time and play as hard as I could. I know I need to rebound, box their big girls out.

ASU Head Coach Charli Turner Thorne

GENERAL REMARKS: "Credit Washington. They capitalized and we didn't. Whoever wins the Pac-10 will have a loss. We are a good team and we're not going to hang our heads."

ON OPTING NOT TO TAKE A TIMEOUT AT THE END: "We practice end-of-game situations all the time. Under twelve seconds, we want to run transition. That's the way we were going to play. We weren't going to let them set up their defense, we were going to attack. It worked for us last time Theresa (Jantzen) drew the foul. I thought we had it that time too. We had Theresa and Rachel (Holt) open on either block, we just didn't take advantage of it. Hindsight is 20/20. Given the shot we took, I'd like to have the timeout."

ON ALLEN'S LAST MINUTE FOUL: "The officiating was the officiating, we had to deal with it the whole game. It wasn't a foul on Sarah. It was a pretty bad call, that's all I'm going to say."

ON THE DEFENSE: "We got away from our defense. It's like, learn the lesson. We learned it and learned it and then got soft down the stretch. It's disappointing. We can't leave Division I, Pac-10 players wide open, they will make shots."

ON EMILY AUTREY: "We keyed in on Franza, she's driving across the key. When people are driving sideways you don't help, and I don't know why we ran off of her, but we did. We're not supposed to and we did. She did a great job of knocking down the open shot. Everyone on their team can knock down the open shot. They're very good offensively. That's just our defensive breakdown."
